Jonah Murphy is an amateur photographer from the west coast of Ireland. He works with both digital & film media and uses applications such as Photoshop to digitally manipulate some of his images in order to convey particular concepts, ideas and artistic visions. His vision is something that is realized before the shutter is released so cropping is rarely necessary, colour and tonal work are the main adjustments made if any. Jonah has been taking photos for the past seven years. During this period he has accumulated a body of work and a large amount of equipment. His first serious camera was a Nikon-F601 which he acquired in 2002, shortly after he upgraded to an F80. Over the next few years as his interest in photography grew, so did his collection of lenses. The most inspirational acquirement was a 90mm Tamron macro lens, which has introduced a whole new dimension to his work. For a long time Jonah had resisted venturing into the world of digital photography, -until 2007 when he acquired a Nikon Coolscan V film scanner with which he digitized most of his work. He was sold, and before 2007 was over he added a Nikon D80 (digital camera) to his collection and as they say the rest is history. As well as photography Jonah likes to travel, with trips to South America, Asia, Morocco and Eastern Europe over the years. Soon there will be galleries here to showcase images from those trips. Jonah is currently studying Electronic Engineering and as a consequence his time for photography has dwindled. Hopefully this site will keep his work alive!! |
